What should I expect for my first time...
Like a brow virgin waxed for the very first time? We’ve been there and we promise to be gentle. The appointment typically takes 15-30 minutes, but allow longer if you’ve got a real Bert & Ernie that needs a bit more attention. We’ll discuss how you want your brows to look, and where I see the natural arch and line of your brow directing us. The brows will be cleaned, hot wax (it’s very warm, not burning) will be applied and then quickly (like a bandaid!) peeled off. Trimming and/or tweezing may be done to clean and define before I present a mirror for the final approval. A cooling cream will be applied. The skin may appear red or irritated for up to a couple of hours, but the skin is just inflamed and will settle back to normal very soon.
What should I do after the wax?
Take a selfie and post it to #BanginBrows! No really, resume normal activity. Wash your face as normal and if you don’t have super sensitive skin go ahead and apply your typical makeup regimen.
Can I wax if I take certain medications or have a health condition?
Honestly, no. We ask every client if they use any of the following products or services, and if you do, then waxing may not be the right option for you… Alternatively, we also offer threading and tweezing. Please do us all a favor and be honest with your esthetician.
- Retin A
- Retinol, any form of vitamin A
- Antibiotics
- Benzoyl Peroxide (clinical grade)
- Laser Peel
- Phenol Peel
- Microdermabrasion (professional)
- Any other peel variation
- Accutane (in the last six months)
Waxing while using any of these can cause alarming damage to your skin. (Google Image that if you dare!) We’d rather you not wax at all than take the risk.
How often should I wax my eyebrows?
Don’t let ‘em sneak up on you, and they will. Book your appointments every two-to-four weeks to stay on top of a well-maintained brow. Some caterpillars do not turn into butterflies!
How do you treat sensitive skin?
Please have a deep convo with your esthetician so they can treat your individual skin appropriately.
Why Hydrafacials?
HydraFacials are becoming increasingly popular as they offer several benefits for the skin. One of the main reasons people choose HydraFacials is that they can deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin in one treatment. They are also customizable to target specific skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne.
Another reason HydraFacials are popular is that they are non-invasive and require no downtime, meaning you can return to your daily activities immediately after the treatment. They are also suitable for all skin types, making them an excellent option for anyone looking to improve the health and appearance of their skin.
Overall, HydraFacials are a great option for anyone looking to improve their skin's overall health and appearance without undergoing invasive procedures or experiencing extended downtime.
What if I'm international? Can I still work with you?
Yes, my booking system makes it easy to find a time that works, and we can use an alternative communication platform/software if cell phone access is difficult or costly.
Can I get a bikini wax after the gym?
Let’s hold off on the nitty gritty of the nether regions if you’re fresh off a workout. There are many reasons why, but the most important is that your body is far more sensitive after a workout. Not that it’s a walk in the park anyway, but it doesn’t make it fun for me or you! Please wait at least a couple of hours before waxing.
What should I know before a brow tint?
The looks is to dye for, but needs an adjustment period. The skin under the hair and around the hair may have residual tint that lasts up to 24 hours.
Why do my eyes burn during lash tinting?
If your eyes burn or feel irritated during a lash tinting treatment, it’s likely due to:
- You were still wearing heavy eye makeup from two days ago and spent 10 minutes rubbing it off right before your service.
- Dry eyes
- Allergies
- Contacts
- Just worked out or did hot yoga (yes, really)
- You opened your eyes or peeked during service
- The list goes on and on! We’ve got your back though, so if you feel any discomfort we will hold your hand, grab a pillow, or just simply wipe it off.
Does threading last longer than waxing?
No, nah, nope! Threading is just a different method of removing the hair. Both waxing and threading can last up to 3-6 weeks.
How old do I have to be to receive a service?
Age ain’t nothin’ but a number, unless you want to get a wax. Our clients must be 18 years of age, or be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Do you accept tips?
If you love your Bangin Brows, then we love a bangin tip! Please provide gratuity in cash only.
How do I cancel an appointment?
- If it’s earlier than the 48 hour cancelation window, please do so by following the Modify Appointment link found in your confirmation email. That’ll take care of it.
- Need to cancel last minute? Please do so by giving us a call and know that you are subject to a 50% cancelation fee, charged to the card on file.
Does the cancelation fee apply if I reschedule?
Yes, the fee applies. Understand that once we’ve reserved a spot for you, that’s time we’ve sold. Even if you reschedule, there’s no guarantee we can fill the spot you originally booked.
Can I use the cancelation fee toward a future appointment?
No, that’s really not possible. It’s kind of a one appointment / one fee situation. When you cancel for any of the 1001 reasons – and yes, we’ve really heard them all – we’ve given up a bit of our income. Income that’s essential for a small business trying to make it in this big bad world.
If I call to make an appointment by phone, am I still required to place a credit card on file to hold the spot?
Yes indeed. That card on file ensures that both of us get what we’ve asked for. You hold that perfect time and date to get your brows done, and we don’t get left holding a hot bowl of wax and no one to share it with.
Where should I park?
Residential parking is open until 6pm, or there are paid parking spots available up and down Armitage.
Can I bring my dog?
We know, she’s the cutest, best dog you’ve ever had…but we still can’t let your furry ride-or-die hang out during your appointment. No matter how big, small, potty-trained, quiet, playful, adorbs, you’ll have to fly solo on this one. It’s a health code violation thing. Those are fines we work hard to avoid, and have a pretty stellar track record (you’re welcome!). It ensures a healthy, clean space for every single client. Service dogs are, of course, allowed.
Can you help? I don't know which service to pick!
We require that all new brow clients must select New Brows, Who Dis?, and we encourage you to call if you’re not sure. New Brow Who Dis! schedules a longer appointment with consultation so we can take the time to understand what you’re looking for, what you like, and how to style your brows to best suit your face. Once we’ve gotten to know each other in this initial wax consultation, we can guide you to the right service so you can go it confidently alone for future appointments online. Note, if it’s been more than six weeks since we last saw you and your brows, you’ll need to book a ‘Girl, it’s been awhile but I’m back!” service. We’ll need the extra time to get everything just right again.
Can I video record my sesh?
Please respect that we do not allow video recording of our employees or clients. But feel free to snap those bangin’ before and after photos and tag us!
What's the difference between the bikini services?
Bikini Line: We’ll wax everything outside the bikini in those “blurred lines” and leave you without any creepy crawlies.
Bikini Full: We’ll wax as little or as much as you want off the front of your bi’ness to leave you feeling clean and fresh.
Brazilian: It’s the Bikini Full + we’ll address that booty strip!
What if I'm running late?
We try to run a tight ship to accommodate all our clients’ pressing schedules. Please call! If you’re more than five minutes late, you’ll be bumped to the walk-in list.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Heck yeah! Just know that appointments have priority and you may have a bit of a wait or ask to come back at a later time.
Can I pay with a check?
Not unless it’s 1987! We accept all major credit cards and cold, hard American cash only. However, we will make exceptions if you’re short on cash and just happen to have a satchel of gold, precious gems, diamonds, or the hook-up on Beyonce tickets.
